My Fingers Drip Poison (A Poem)

Will you hold my flowers?
They’re rotting in my hands.
Oh!
They come alive in yours!
I wonder what poison,
Drips from my fingers?
The cracked voices,
Of broken singers.
Black like death,
Or is death bright?
I don’t know that but,
I do know that those,
Flowers will continue to,
Rot tonight.

Burning Bodies (A Poem)

The paper kites melt,
Just like the ashes fell.
Scattered over each burning,
Face another memory,
Is once again dying.
A star no longer shining,
One eye still crying,
Because that’s all a burning,
Body can manage.

Where do we go from here?

The future is a scary prospect, one which many people don’t want to face. A lot of people carry on going through education until they finally have to step out in to the real world. Most of those people are quite startled, understandably. Those people have been living in a bubble for a long time. I see those people as birdies who are just learning to fly.
I always considered myself determined and gifted with the sight of destiny. I always knew where I wanted my legs to carry me. I always knew what I wanted and where I wanted to go. There came a point in which I had a revolutionary thought. Does anybody really know where they are going? We have desires and dreams but every day is a different journey, a surprise.
I always wanted to become an author or some form of writer. I remember being younger and writing prose frequently. I was desperate for credit, for somebody to acknowledge what I was creating. It took a while but that day finally came. I believe it started out because I used ‘Exasperated’ in my work as a ten year old. From that day forth I became known as ‘The Dictionary Girl’ as I would read the dictionary searching for words I had never heard of to incorporate in to my work.
I created worlds for myself in my brain. I would just stare in to space and would happily go to one of those places. I went there in dreams too. I still do. I dabbled in poetry a few times and felt a sense of liberation when I created one. I now delve in to poetry instead off dabble. I create poetry frequently.
My other dream is to move to London. Oh how I love that city. I love the scenery, the people and the possibilities. This one is less likely but I always imagine myself at fancy parties with good looking men and some wonderfully intelligent women to converse with.
Everybody wishes for fairy tales but are fairy tales really so far away from what we can achieve. Life brings great surprises and if you just believe, you may just live your fairy tale.
The magic never dies. The worlds never end. Imagination is a gift, a wonder. Imagination is essential for any writer.
I have been very fortunate in my seventeen years on this earth. I have travelled to some wonderful places. I have met some amazing people, my best friends very much included. I have accumulated many books and many perfumes. I read a lot and reading has taught me so many lessons. I have been fortunate to be blessed with a wonderful family and wonderful parents even though I don’t say it very often.
I have also had many pets, well, fish and rabbits. The fish and rabbits all sadly died. I now have a cat called Millie who is two years old.
So, what I am trying to say is, I don’t know where I am going to eventually end up. I do have an idea of where I want to go. I don’t know what will happen after that. I am going to continue this journey with a few changes and try to make my life the best it can be.

Story Review

This is the second story in the 365 Stories book. The story is called 'Story'. This story is about what makes a story, a story. A writer the person writing this story says for a story to be a story, something has to happen. I am not sure I entirely agree. If you told somebody about what you had done that day, that's a story. If anything interesting or eventful happened during your day, that's just decorating your story.

Everybody tells stories, something big happening is just a bonus.

You Had Me At Hello Book Review

You Had Me At Hello by Mhairi McFarlane

I have A LOT to say about this book. I could go on forever but if I did, I'd end up spoiling things so I shall keep this concise. If you do want to see my spoiler filled review, you can go to my goodreads review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1116749224?book_show_action=false

This book follows a woman called Rachel, she is a news reporter based in the court system. She reports about different court cases in Manchester, England. Rachel bumps in to an old university friend called Ben who she has not seen for ten years and she starts to remember what happened. The one that got away has come back.

The book is quite slow to start with and you don't really get a feel for the characters until later on but it is worth the journey. In the first half of this novel, a lot of elements are just being established. Rachel has bumped in to Ben and is over the moon to see him, except he is married and Rachel is not.

In the second half of this novel, wow! It feels like a soap opera! There is so much drama contained within the second half of this novel. It is incredibly emotional and very frustrating. I found myself animatedly shouting at the characters in this book.

I also found the fact that this book was set around an area which I frequent regularly to be all the more enjoyable. I recognised places mentioned. It was a helping in hand in the use of imagery for I personally.

I had a few qualms about this novel but as this is a non spoiler review, I cannot state the specifics. However, I also adored this book and would recommend it to anybody who loves a good romance. Overall, I gave this story 4 out of 5 stars.

365 Stories For Each Day Of 2015

I bought a book just after Christmas called 365 Stories By James Robertson.

The author wrote a story on each day of 2013 and compiled this book of all of these stories. I decided to read the story that is for that day. As it's the first of January 2015, I read the very first story. I also have decided to review each story.

The first story is called 'The Beginning'. This story is about the beginning of the universe. This story is full of a lot of the big questions we ask ourselves each day. I found this story to be rather incoherent in the sense it was not concise. It seemed a lot like a train of thought rather than a concise paragraph. It was not easy to understand. I found myself going back through the story and trying to fully understand it.

There is a bit of description about the mountains rising and Earth forming as we know it. This story centred around science and nature which of course fitted with the title.

I shall be back with my review of the next story tomorrow.

Why I think some people are not fans of Romance Novels and Films.

One Day, Bridget Jones, I don't know how she does it. These are just some chick flicks (some are film adaptations of books).

There seems to be quite a big stigma surrounding romance films and books. Here is my take on it.

I love romance films and novels. I am a sucker for a good chick flick or love story. Books and films are a form of escapism which is why most books/films have a happy ending because you want to escape real life not read all about it. That is what people have to remember, you may not know it but when you go to watch a film or read a book, you are escaping from your own life.

However, not all stories and films end with a happy ending, there are some very upsetting endings (*coughs* One Day, I am still recovering). There is a quote from Stephen Fry which annoyingly, I cannot trace. He says in other words that fiction tends to have/need some truth in it. I agree with what he says in that fiction does need aspects of truth in it for ease of relating to characters and situations.

I wish that this prejudice towards romance novels would dissipate but I don't think it's going to be that simple.

Romance novels are more than often considered 'cliché' which is quite odd to me personally. I find it odd because it's romance, people fall in love, it happens, how are you going to make that any different. Granted, different things tend to happen and people fall in love in different ways but we are only human at the end of the day. We are humans, we are not some omniscient beings, we are human. Love does not always go how we want it.

I have come to a realisation that people use the term 'cliché' to describe most romance films/novels because we want to escape, to have a change from 'real' love. As humans, we like to dream, at least I do. People dream of falling in love in a revolutionary way but love is love and it's not going to change. Love comes in a different form, shape and size to each individual but it can only be what it is.

This is generally my take on the whole situation but maybe if people really thought about why they don't like romance films/novels, they might discover something. The light bulb might switch on.

Romance novels/films are moving and awkward like real life is. We tend to speak the words 'Oh I wish it was like the films' a lot but it is. Most of the time, films paint an 80% accurate picture of human love. As humans, we don't want to admit this, we like to be different and unpredictable. We also like everything we see, hear, watch and read to be unpredictable but there are only so many things you can do.
